Soil Stabilization and Road Conditioning

Road conditioning and soil stabilization is a relatively new service to us. We are using a Wirtgen WS 2500 soil stabilizer towed by one of the Fendt tractors and has the following specs:
- First machine of its kind in North America
- 250 hp tractor with stepless IVT transmission
- Working width of 2.50 m (8.5 ft)
- Working depth of up to 50 cm (20 in)
- No tramping over worked grade
- Very mobile and compact unit
- Capable of working in tough terrain
- Superior or equal capacity as self-propelled unit
- More economical than self-propelled unit
- Liquid product injection system
- 50 km/h road speed

General Applications of this Soil Stabilizer
- Mixing and blending of soil and/or surface materials with additives, called mixed-in-place process, mostly based on a cementitious stabilization
- Breaking up and milling asphalt surfaces for recycling process
- blending existing road material with additional material up to 20" deep
- Preparing the ground for general construction purposes
- Levels the surface area, reverse erosion damage and control the erosion

Mixed-in-place Surface Stabilization of Dirt Roads
- Use of lime, cement, cement-kiln dust, synthetic stabilizing additives, or calcium chloride
- Use of ENTAC Solution for stabilizing and finishing gravel based roads to asphalt like condition
- Increases load carrying capacity, strength and shear stability
- Reduces swelling, plasticity and water contents
- Increases wear resistant of surface
- Substantially reduces costs because of less maintenance and longer life
- Reduces potholes, rutting, boiling, raveling, wash boarding and soft spots
- Reduction of water erosion damage on sloped roads
- Multi-year dust control with Calciumchlorid because it is incorporated instead of top spread
- Low to no impact on watersheds, fisheries, and habitats
- Typical applications are: gravel roads, gravel strips along highways, forest roads, biking and hiking trails, parking lots, storage areas, temporary construction roads and lane ways
- Lime stabilization is a proven process used for over 2000 years, some of the roads built by the Romans are still in use today

Mixed-in-place Subgrade Stabilization
- Use of lime, cement, cement-kiln dust, fly ash, or blends of those  materials to stabilize subgrades in mixed-in-place process
- No replacements of subgrade material with course aggregated materials necessary - use of existing material as subgrade for construction process
- Reduce water contents, plasticity and swelling of subgrade to extend life of hard surfaced areas
- Reduce cracking and pot holes
- Increase load bearing capacity
- Tremendous cost savings in paved surface construction process
- Typical applications are: highways, municipal and county roads, railway tracks, parking lots, subgrade for building sites, subdivision roads, airports, and landing strips

Reblending of Dirt Road Materials
- Milling of dirt roads to reblend existing materials without adding stabilizing additives
- Mobile in place process

Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement
- Cold milling of asphalt surface: Chip and Tar, RAP and Hot Mix up to 4"
- Blending the asphalt layer with existing subgrade
- Addition of stabilizing additives is possible
- Recycling of existing material to create a foundation for hard surface roads or unbound surface roads

Crushing asphalt based surfaces
- can crush Chip and tar, RAP, Hot Mix up to 4" and others
- preparation for water main or other supply installations in towns
- preparation for new road surface installation
- converting asphalt based roads back to gravel based roads

Liquid products injection for stabilizing base and sub base
- Entac tall oil emulsion
- Calcium or Magnesium Chloride
- Salt Brine
- Oil  base products like Essoflex 250
- Road Packer Plus synthetic stabilizer

Soil Drying
- Use of lime to reduce water contents in soils
- Surface applied lime is blended with existing soil which reduces the water contents and dries the soil so that it can be worked or be driven on
- Decreases drying time under wet conditions to convert soil into a usable condition to be used as a fill or to drive on
- Time saving process in time-sensitive applications

Services and equipment:

- Wirtgen WS 2500 towed soilstabilizer
- Fendt 900 CVT tractors
- Tebbe spreader for spreading lime and lime based materials
- Uniblade graderblade
